P2 at the Capitol with The American Cancer Society

LANSING, MI – Feb. 12, 2009 – The American Cancer Society and Perspective2 Studio are joining forces in the fight against cancer during a “Show Us Your Hope” photo in front of the state Capitol on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at noon.

The finished photograph will show the magic of hope by turning the Capitol purple, the official color of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

“Everyone from the community is invited to take part in this special event,” said Beth Young, Community Representative from the American Cancer Society Capital Area Service Center. “Cancer touches all of us in one way or another that is why we are encouraging anyone and everyone to come show us your hope.”

Businesses and organizations that would like to take part are encouraged to bring their company sign to show support in the fight against cancer.

“We are so pleased to be partnering with the American Cancer Society on this special project,” said Lynne Brown, owner of Perspective2 Studio. "We are glad to have some of our member photographers team with the American Cancer Society to Show us your Hope."

Photos from this shoot were contributed by Holly Mayes, Roxanne Frith and Lynne Brown.

"P2 Open Shoot" 1-31-09

This is our first post on Perspective 2's new blog.  We will have much more to come so be sure to follow our postings!

Last Saturday, the 31st of January we had our first "Open Shoot" with instruction from me, Juan Beltran.  The topic of our first shoot was "Shooting on the Cheap" using only one light.  It was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time, I know i did.  I would like to thank everyone who came out and participated!

The "Open Shoot" is basically a two hour drop-in shoot with a new topic each month.  The next "Open Shoot" topic is going to be "Fashion Product" and it will be held on Tuesday, February 24th from 4-6pm and Saturday, February 28th from 10am-Noon.  The reason the "Open Shoot" came to be is that we were getting a lot of feedback from people saying that they learn better from hands on experience and wanted less lecture and more time actually shooting.  So during one of our staff meetings we came up with the idea for the monthly "Open Shoots" and I volunteered to Instruct them because, well, I learn better through hands on instruction myself and I love to teach that way.

The cost of the "Open Shoots" is $10.oo for P2 members and $25.oo for non members and can be paid the day of the shoot.

Here are some pictures from the "Open Shoot" on Saturday, January 31st, courtesy of one of our new members, Jerod Karam.

Here is a behind the scenes shot of me, taken by Jerod.......
